This week, we caught up with Matteo, a 9-year-old Fire Tech Camper, who attended our Junior Augmented and Virtual Reality 5-day remote learning course last week.
His mother told us, “Matteo absolutely loved the week! I could hear him laughing from the other room, he was having a really great time. His tutor was really engaging so he was focussed and learnt lots over the week.”
What did you create/make/build/code last week?
“So many different things. I created two joke-telling apps using metaverse, a role playing game and I created a maze, solar system and story board with co-spaces!”
What’s the most surprising thing you learnt from your teacher last week?
“The most surprising thing I learnt – that we didn’t really need anything, just a piece of paper, you could take a picture and it could become 3D and move! Once we added the things I made on the computer and used the VR headset it was awesome.”
How different is it learning at Fire Tech to learning at school?
“We haven’t done anything quite like this at school so it’s hard to compare!”
How do you think the things you have learned at Fire Tech will help you at school?
“I think later maybe next year we might start learning things like this so it will be really good and it’ll give me a head-start compared to others.”
Do you think it’s important for children to learn about technology? Why?
“Yes! Because if they don’t learn about these things they’ll get behind, they’ll have a better life when they learn all these fun things.”
What would you say to a child/teen who is a tech beginner but is thinking of coming to Fire Tech?
“It’s very fun and you learn lots of new things – lots of really cool things!”
