In July 2015 we launched our first ever residential camp at Wycombe Abbey and it was incredible. Students came from far and wide (from across the UK plus further afield, including France, Oman and Hong Kong) to explore new technologies and bond over fun evening games and the thrill of writing code that makes things happen!
In 2016, we’re going even bigger on our residential programme and we’re starting by introducing a series of three new April and summer holiday camps at the beautiful Sedbergh School in Cumbia. We will still be holding a summer programme at Wycombe Abbey too with longer courses (6 days instead of 4 at Sedbergh) and different options available – watch this space!
The background: Why we chose Sedbergh
We visited Sedbergh on a sunny day in September and it was pretty clear that the prestigious independent school in the north of England would make an excellent campus for Fire Tech Camp. Aside from the backdrop of rolling hills and grazing sheep, the classroom facilities were top-notch, the dorms and games rooms well kitted out and the team we met were welcoming and experienced when it came to delivering aspirational holiday camps.

Sedbergh already have a superb programme of sports holiday camps for older children and teenagers but were interested in expanding their range of classes to include high-quality tech, code and making skills. Enter Fire Tech Camp!
Fire Tech Camp at Sedbergh: Camp options
We have designed three new camps to bring to Sedbergh in April and July 2016 and, rest assured, fully-trained tutors from Fire Tech Camp will be delivering the courses and looking after the students during their time on camp. While we are linking up with Sedbergh’s existing holiday camp services, such as their great dining facilities or pick-up/drop-off service for train travellers, we will be on camp from start to finish ensuring students experience our custom hands-on, “under-the-hood”, intensive taste of tech, code and making!
There are three Fire Tech camps on offer at Sedbergh, taking some of the best parts of our existing courses as well as adding in new elements, e.g. learning both Java and Python coding skills on the Games Building camp or taking advantage of the intensive residential format to introduce team-oriented problem-solving challenges and games.
The three options are:
