Since introducing our Online Hackathons last week, we’ve had hundreds of kids and teens SELL OUT these interactive remote learning sessions! These free hackathons are fun, engaging and give kids and teens a first-hand look at what our brand-new Remote Learning Courses are like.
Our experts are running three weekly Online Hackathons:
- Monday: Games Jam for kids aged 9-12⠀
- Wednesday: Python Challenge for kids aged 9-14⠀
- Friday: Tech For Good for teens aged 13-17⠀
We’ve been so impressed so far with attendees designing their own apps to help the NHS access food, coding their own interactive quizzes using python, creating campaign videos, building their own video games and MORE! Check out some of these unique and innovative projects below.
Monday: Games Jam
In our weekly Games Jam, we ask students aged 9-12 to design and build their own video games. This session we asked students to design their own video game with the theme ‘Outside’.
Check out Jacob’s game called The Inside below:
Wednesday: Python Challenge
In this Hackthon for kids aged 9-12, Evie designed a Harry Potter themed quiz that she designed and coded using python for the first time. Try it out yourself here.
Her mother said, “Evie told us a while ago that she’d love to study robotics at MIT. It’s companies like Fire Tech who make coding accessible and more importantly fun so hopefully she continues towards that goal.”⠀
Friday: Social Impact
In this Tech For Good Hackathon each week, we ask teens aged 13-17 to use tech for good to solve global issues. In one Hackathon we saw teens design apps to help NHS workers better access food during the global pandemic.
We then challenged teens to design their very own social impact campaign video. We looked to support the amazing ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ programme run by CHD Living, and also the work of the wonderful The Cares Family.
Take a look at some of the submissions below:
Fire Tech’s weekly scheduled Hackathons run from 12-1pm, where an expert teacher will announce the challenge, teach new skills and then kids and teens are given an allocated time frame to complete their challenge and submit!
