Meet the Fire Tech Tutors: Jacob

Jacob, Game Design Tutor
This week’s Meet The Tutors blog series introduces you to Video Game Design tutor Jacob.
Jacob, tell us a bit about yourself and what you’re studying.
I am in my 3rd year of a BA economics course in the university of Goldsmiths. I love learning about technology whether it be a whole product, a product’s features, or the cause for a product to function how it does.
What led you to choose this course? And where are you hoping it takes you?
I find it important having knowledge of the economy and patterns that have been found in different economies, present and past. Economics interlinks with all parts of life so I saw this as a necessary course-path to take. I hope it leads into financial opportunities!
What’s the best thing about teaching technology to young people?
Young people all share high levels of creativity so it gives me no troubles teaching them. Additionally their passion of learning new things is pleasing to see and hearing their ideas of what they can do with their new skill sets gives me satisfaction that I feel only teaching technology can bring.
What would you tell your younger self?
It is very important to experience; events, people, and parts of life. Be happy to help as in the process of helping you will learn things that will help you become a better person.
Who/what inspires you the most?
The sight of different people I cross paths with on my travels inspires me, for no particular reason. Moreover, my mother inspires me because of her ability to stay on top of all parts of her life and remain to have a contagiously positive outlook on life.
What’s your favourite Fire Tech course and why?
I have only taught Video Games Design but it has its perks as every young person has played video games and so they are very engaged with this course.
What excites you most about the future and technology?
With more inventions there is no limitations on the power of technology and this can improve society and all of the problems that have occurred in current and recent history. Given we find environmentally friendly solutions, the future appears to be very promising for future generations with credits to technology.
