Meet the Fire Tech Tutors: George

George, 3D Game Development Tutor

We are kicking off our Meet The Tutors blog series with one of our expert 3D Game Development tutors George.

George, tell us a bit about yourself and what you’re studying.
I love learning about and trying out new technology. I’m particularly interested in gaming technology and the potential applications of artificial intelligence. This lead me to complete a three year degree in Computer Science at Anglia Ruskin University and I’m now studying a Masters Degree there in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.
What led you to choose this course? And where are you hoping it takes you?
AI seems to be a rapidly advancing technology with lots of interesting potential applications for its use. I’d love to have a career at the forefront of this development.
What’s the best thing about teaching technology to young people?
I never really had anyone who was interested in technology to look up to when I was younger. It’s nice to be in a position where I can inspire younger people interested in technology to pursue their passions.
What would you tell your younger self?
Despite being interested in technology I wasn’t aware of the vast careers available in the various tech industries. Studying at university was my first real exposure to tech skills like programming. I would have loved to tell my younger self to start practising in my spare time or look deeper into how the technology I loved using worked.
What inspires you the most?
I really enjoy problem solving and being able to tackle big issues with technology drives me to continue studying it.
What’s your favourite Fire Tech course and why?
I love playing video games so teaching 3D Game Development with Unity has been a fantastic experience.
What excites you most about the future and technology?
I find the advancements for video game technology really exciting. I recently purchased a VR headset and it blew my mind!
