Fire Tech Camp and Kusuma Trust bring awesome tech to Gibraltar!

Fire Tech Camp and Kusuma Trust are partnering up once again with the Department for Education to bring awesome tech to young people in Gibraltar!

Last year the partnership ran workshops for over 200 children in robotics, to show young people how to bring code to life. Ozobot, a hand-held all-dancing, all-flashing programmable robot, was the platform we used.  The kids were delighted and feedback from both teachers and the students was excellent.  See the blog posts we wrote on the events last year here and here.

This year we are expanding the programme!  Year 3 students will get to work with Ozobots again, during the week, programming their robots to respond to their colour-coded commands.  Year 8, 9, and 10 boys will participate in an afterschool session, and use the BBC’s sensational micro:bit and the BinaryBot kits to get UFOs flying and sensing temperature, light and motion.  These kits are provided by Kusuma Trust and free for the students to take home.  Year 8, 9, and 10 girls will be using prize-winning littleBits Gizmos & Gadgets kit in their afterschool workshops to make their own inventions using snappable electronics, and will also get to keep the kits so that they can keep making and inventing beyond the workshop.

If you are in participating schools in Gibraltar please have a look and share our flyers linked below.

We look forward to getting Gibraltar’s young inspired with fun tech projects, and we are grateful to Kusuma Trust for funding both the workshops and the kits for the students to take home.
