Course Overview

Take control of your Minecraft world by learning how to add circuitry to make your builds more interactive. You’ll also learn how to automate crafting processes that will turn your resources into new items without your input as well as how to build autonomous turtle based robots to mine and harvest the resources in your world. As a Minecraft Machine Engineer with Fire Tech, you will be thrown into an intensive mix of creativity, gaming and engineering. Each student finishes with an impressive command of important computing concepts, practical making skills, and will have extended their understanding of how to expand and enjoy their Minecraft universe. 

This is an engaging course for 9-12-year-olds that will build on what they have previously learnt in our Minecraft Maker course, allowing them to delve deeper into advanced techniques for automating their worlds, whilst learning the basics of computer programming.

Minecraft is an incredibly popular block-building game, the second most-downloaded game of all time. Through this course, students will gain an understanding of how simple circuits and logic gates work, how to automate processes in Minecraft and how to build automated machines to mine, plant, sow and build in the world.

This is an online course taught live by an expert tutor who is fully DBS-checked. You will join a small group of other young learners online, working together and making lots of progress in fun and interactive sessions. All classes are monitored and recorded for safety.

You will need a laptop or desktop computer capable of running Minecraft Java Edition. As long as the computer is able to run Minecraft it should be able to run the other tools too. The tools in this course will work with the Minecraft Java Edition only, this can be on Mac OS or Windows, they will not work with the Windows 10 Edition, Pocket Edition, Pi Edition or the various Console versions.

You will also need a license for Minecraft Java Edition which can be bought from here: Minecraft Java Edition

  • Enhanced understanding of STEM fields such as coding, game design and computational thinking
  • How to use Mods in Minecraft to change aspects of the game
  • The basics of electronic and logic circuits modelled in Minecraft using Redstone
  • Using the Buildcraft Mod to create automated pipelines and factories
  • How to use Computercraft and Turtles to automate mining and other activities
  • The basics of programming whilst designing the automated parts of your build
