Your Weekly Stem Club

HackLab is your One-Stop all-purpose computer club. If you just love technology in general but you’re not quite sure what you’re really interested in, this is the place for you. Experience everything from programming to digital art in this casual, super fun weekly club.

For online courses: these require you to have a capable computer to work on and a broadband internet connection. Most PC/Mac computers from the last 5 years will be fine but you can view our recommended detailed system requirements here. For on campus courses: laptops are provided for all junior courses, as well as Music, Unity, Creative Design & YouTube senior courses. Laptop rental is available for all other senior courses (£50 extra).

Course Overview

HackLab Club is your One-Stop all-purpose computer club. If you just love technology in general but you’re not quite sure what you’re really interested in, this is the place for you.

From coding video games to producing music, and from designing websites to creating stunning digital art, this super casual and extra fun course will give you a wide-ranging skill set you can use to jumpstart your tech journey!

Led by our highly entertaining, friendly and knowledgeable tutors, you’ll find this is a great place to embed yourself in the Fire Tech community and discover your passion.

Hacklab Club runs weekly and topics are taught in short blocks. HackLab Club uses mostly online software so downloads are kept to a minimum.

 

What your child will learn

  • How to get started using Python (The world’s most popular programming language)
  • HTML and CSS (The language of the internet, learn how to make web pages)
  • Programming in Javascript. JavaScript is used to make website interactive and can be used to make games.
  • Photo Editing. Create stunning posters and art work to make all your projects look amazing.
  • Video Editing. Learn how to edit video and the tips and tricks to make them look more professional.
  • Learn Game programming theory by making a platformer game
  • Create digital art using code.
