Course Overview

Students will learn all the key functions of a modern digital camera and how to use it to create great images worthy of framing and putting on your wall.

We start with functions and controls. We’ll go through the basics of composition and shooting – lighting, exposure, depth of field, and framing to get to grips with all the possibilities of your camera.

Next, we work with Adobe® Lightroom and Photoshop to organise, process, edit and retouch photos. We’ll even show you how to create special effects with exciting photo projects! Finally, you’ll learn to export and publish your work to showcase online. Walk away with a professional-quality photography portfolio!

This is an independent learning course with a focus on project work. Students will work independently at their own pace through learning materials and assignments, and also have weekly live onscreen tutorials for sharing progress and problem-solving.

There are 5 weekly tutorials, lasting 1 hour each. These tutorials are led by an expert, fully DBS-checked instructor, and you will join a small group of other young learners online, working together in fun and interactive sessions. All sessions are monitored and recorded for safety.

PLEASE NOTE: This course requires you have an active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, a capable computer to work on and a broadband internet connection. Details on how to access the service at the discounted student rate are here. A PC/Mac computer with at least 8GB of RAM is recommended.
